Mary Poppendieck Event

Mary Poppendieck visited the APLN in Northern VA for a presentation/discussion on May 18th.

Good discussion and Q&A.

Her talk was directly relevant to those working through contracts where collaboration was key. Including unwriten contracts. One example was contracts with external suppliers.

WHAT: Mary Poppendieck visit to the APLN-Northern VA chapter meeting

WHEN: Thursday, May 18th at at 7:00 PM

WHERE: Courtyard by Marriott - Tyson's Corner

1960-A Chain Bridge Road

Mclean, VA 22102

TOPIC: Agile Contracts

SPEAKER: Mary Poppendieck

TOPIC - AGILE CONTRACTS:

How many times have you as software developers wanted to do the right thing for your customers, but couldn't do it, because of "the contract"?

How many times have you as government or industry customers wanted a better software product, but couldn't get it, because of "the contract"?

Although 80% of the value of most systems is delivered by 20% of the features, and up to two-thirds of the features of most systems are rarely used, government and industry still continue to encourage waste and bloat in their outmoded contracts.

There has to be a better way! And no, it isn't getting rid of contracts. It's Agile Contracts!
